Trigg County beat Mayfield 7-1 Thursday in girls' softball action to move two games above .500 for the first time since 2004. The Lady Wildcats broke the game with four runs in the third inning. Allison Russell had three hits and a double, while Alexa Agosto, Brittney Hallgren, and Addison Rogers each had two hits.
Hallgren got the job done on the mound by striking out 12 and walking just one. Trigg County is now 4-2 on the season and takes Spring Break off before returning to action April 8th against Livingston Central.
In other softball action, Franklin-Simpson hammered Todd County Central 12-1; Hopkins Central downed Caldwell County 6-2; Livingston Central shut out Calloway County 10-0; Lyon County needed eight innings to beat Crittenden County 2-1; Madisonville beat Dawson Springs 14-0; and University Heights beat Logan County 14-3.
