WKU Assistant Coach Takes Over Troy Program

Western Kentucky University assistant coach Phil Cunningham has been named the men's basketball head coach at Troy University. The announcement was made by Troy Athletics Director John Hartwell at a media briefing Tuesday in Troy's Trojan Arena. Cunningham, who becomes the sixth head coach in Troy history, takes over the program after Don Maestri announced his retirement March 9th, following 31 seasons and 500 wins as the head coach. The Campbellsville native spent 12 seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State before joining the staff at Western Kentucky last season.
