Motorists traveling in Trigg County need to be aware there will KY 1489/Blue Springs Road at the US 68 intersection will be closed Wednesday to allow construction of tie-ins for the new intersection.
State Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the intersection near Cadiz will be closed around 9:00 a.m. and is expected to reopen to traffic around Noon Wednesday.
Todd urges motorists to use extreme caution in this area. He indicates there will be no marked detour. However, he notes motorists may self-detour via the KY 1489/State Park Road connection to US 68/KY 80 near Canton.
As a reminder, Todd says the two ongoing work zones for reconstruction on US 68/KY 80 between Cadiz and Canton in Trigg County continue to be active. While much of the new construction is away from the existing roadway, he says appropriate caution is required wherever construction crews are present.
According to Todd, Rogers Group, Inc. is the prime contractor on this $25.5 million contract to add to additional lanes along US 68/KY 80 that runs just south of Cadiz. Todd indicates the Cadiz portion is about 70% complete.
He notes Rogers Group is also the prime contractor on a $53.4 million project to construct a new 4-lane US 68/KY 80 from Cadiz to connect to the new Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton. He adds the western portion of the project is about 40% complete.
