Pension Plan Possibly Coming This Week

Area Legislators say a state Pension Plan that state and local retirees can live with, will likely be introduced this week. Representatives Myron Dossett and Walker Thomas, and Senators Whitney Westerfield and Stan Humphries discuss the pension plan during the weekly Legislative Update.

Thomas, who represents Christian and Trigg Counties, says he is ready to get the plan out to the public to begin getting feedback.

Dossett, who represents Christian and Hopkins Counties, says pension reform is going to be costly.

Westerfield, who represents Christian, Todd and Logan Counties, says he thinks the plan will set better with people than many of the proposals last year.

Humphries, who represents Trigg, Lyon, Graves and other western Kentucky counties, says the plan has been crafted to address many concerns by state and local employees and retirees.

The legislators also discussed proposed budget cuts and a number of other topics during the Legislative Update Program that airs Sundays after the Noon News Edge on 96.5-100.9 WHVO.
