New Wet-Dry Sweeper Truck For Hopkinsville

The City of Hopkinsville is buying a new street sweeper. City Council voted Tuesday night to spend $250,000 on the new equipment. Chief Administrative Officer Nate Pagan says the ordinance allows the city to seek a loan from a local bank.

The City currently owns a street sweeper. However, it is eleven years old and the typical lifespan is seven.

City Council also approved the second reading of the updated streets and sidewalk ordinance and the lease of vehicles for Hopkinsville Solid Waste.

Meanwhile, Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin says payroll tax collection and property tax collection are up.

Mayor Carter Hendricks asked Martin to clarify about how much payroll tax revenue came in in January.

The City budgeted to collect $16.5 million in Payroll Tax for the year.

In addition, City Council recognized newly hired Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan Stull and recently promoted Police Patrol Sergeant Chris Bond.
