New Manufacturing Company Coming To Commerce Park

A new Japanese company is locating in Hopkinsville. South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Executive Director Mark Lindsey says Yamakin has purchased a building in Commerce Industrial Park,

He adds they are hopeful in the near future they will expand and become a light manufacturing facility.

Lindsey believes the relationship the city and county have with other Japanese companies located in Christian County helped lure Yamakin.

Yamakin, founded in 1893, is a major Japanese trading/procurement company that specializes in wrought copper products, light metal products, stainless steel and various wires.

Yamakin has expanded its business globally, based on its international procurement networks. It has two plants in Japan, providing services, such as slitting and cutting.

South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Board of Directors Chairman Eston Glover, Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble and Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks all expressed their excitement in a news release regarding the announcement. They also congratulated Yamakin and say they look forward to partnering with the Japanese company.

Yamakin bought the Bryamk Building on February 16 at a price in excess of a half million dollars.
