A traffic stop on North Main Street over the weekend landed a Hopkinsville man behind bars after police say he was driving under the influence with an infant in the vehicle. Hopkinsville Police report an officer made the traffic stop on a vehicle with an unlit license plate in the 700 block of North Main Street shortly before 11:00 Saturday night.

Police say the driver, 20-year old Raemarkeus Jackson, stated he had smoked marijuana about 30 to 45 minutes before the traffic stop. The officer reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle that had an infant in the back seat inside a car seat, but the car seat was not secured into the vehicle.

Jackson was arrested and booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, and Rear License Plate Not Illuminated.
