One Christian County fire department held groundbreaking ceremonies Saturday morning for a new building. Officials with the Highland Volunteer Fire Department and other local officials turned out for the event.
The new building will have four bays, with a drive through bay. The building will also have a meeting room, which will be available for rental. The building dimensions are 100 feet by 60 feet. The building will eventually be able to serve as emergency shelter. The two acres for the building were donated by Mary Ellen Hofferberth, in memory of her brother.
