An Evansville man is charged with Murder, Robbery, Assault and Resisting Arrest after he reportedly attacked his mother and another woman at Mason Pointe Apartments Saturday night, with his mother pronouced dead at the scene. According to information from Hopkinsville Police Information Officer Paul Ray 65-year-old Roxie Mounts was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Christian County Coroner Zach Lamb, who listed blunt force trauma as the likely cause of death.
Meanwhile 69-year old Marvelyn Spray, of Hopkinsville, was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center after police found 29-year old Jamal Mounts assaulting her in the breezeway of the apartment building. Spray was reportedly alert and talking when she arrived at the emergency room. Police say Jamal Mounts, who is suspected of assaulting both women, was restrained and taken into custody by police.
According to the Christian County Jail website Mounts is charged with Murder as the Result of Domestic Violence, 1st Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Assault, and Resisting Arrest. Around 6:15 Saturday night police were called to the 838 building of Mason Pointe Apartments on Elm Street after they received a reported of a disturbance. When police arrived, they located the unresponsive body of Roxie Mounts' in the breezeway of the apartment building. An Autopsy is being conducted in Madisonville to confirm the cause of death of Roxie Mounts.
