Dawson Springs Man Arrested After Pursuit

A Dawson Springs man is facing numerous charges after a pursuit with police Tuesday morning. Kentucky State Police report the pursuit began shortly before 11:00 when Trooper Stu Recke observed a pickup truck traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on US 62 near Nortonville. Trooper Recke activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver later identified as 40-year old Shawn Blanton, didn't comply.

Trooper Recke reports the vehicle continued west through the Dawson Springs city limits and continued into Caldwell County and onto Long Break Road and back into Hopkins County where the vehicle ran off the road at the intersection of Olney and Walton Calvert roads. 

Blanton then exited the truck and tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended by Trooper Recke. Police reportedly Blanton was possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Blanton was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center charged with Speeding 26 MPH or Over Speed Limit, Improper Passing, Disregarding Stop Sign, Reckless Driving, No Operators License, Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle, Failure of Non-owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police in Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Resisting Arrest, 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree Criminal Mischief, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
