Christian County Native Remains Critical At U of L

A Christian County native, who is a junior at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, continues to fight for her life at the University of Louisville Hospital following a traffic accident a week ago in Grayson County, near Leitchfield.

Family members tell the News Edge the accident occurred near Leitchfield Friday morning, January 11th, when a vehicle driven by Emily Holmes, who is a native of the Herndon Community in South Christian County, ran off the road and hit a tree. Emily was flown to University of Louisville Hospital where she remains in critical condition in a coma.

Emily, who is a 2010 graduate of Christian County High School, is the daughter of Brad and Yvette Smithson Holmes of Herndon. Brad works as an X-Ray Technician at Blanchfield Hospital at Fort Campbell. Yvette works at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Hopkinsville.

The family is asking that the community keep Emily in your prayers. A fund to assist the family with Emily's medical expenses has been set up at First Methodist Church in Hopkinsville.
