Autopsies Completed On Tug-Boat Explosion Victims

Autopsies have been completed on the bodies of three men killed when a tug-boat exploded on the Tennessee River in Calvert City Friday morning. Kentucky State Police say the preliminary findings of the autopsies on the bodies of 52-year old Timothy Wright of Calvert City, 56-year old Jerome Smith and 41-year old Quentin Stewart, both of Louisiana, showed they died from injuries received during the explosion.

State Police say the tug-boat, owned by Smithland Towing, exploded around 9:15 Friday morning while it was docked on Hollinger Road and was actively being worked on. Six other men were injured in the explosion and transported to area hospitals for treatment of what police said were minor to serious injuries.

State Police and OSHA are continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion.
