Area House Members Expect Bleak Budget

Four members of the Kentucky House of Representatives from the Pennyrile Area are ready to hear a bleak budget report Tuesday night. Governor Matt Bevin will present his State of the Commonwealth and Budget address to a joint session of the Kentucky General Assembly.

Eighth District State Representative Walker Thomas says lower revenue will have a big effect on the budget.

Ninth District legislator Myron Dossett says adequately funding the pension will shape how the remainder of the budget looks.

Fourth District Representative Lynn Bechler notes he is anxious to see what the Governor is proposing to make up for lost revenue.

And Fifth District lawmaker Kenny Imes says although cuts are likely, the house will work to make sure essential services are protected.

The Legislators discussed the budget and other issues during the Legislative Update Program that can be heard Sundays after the Noon News Edge on 96.5-100.9 WHVO.
