Anti Smurfing Event Tuesday

Several local legislators are expected to be among those in attendance Tuesday afternoon, in Hopkinsville, for a media event to educate and update area residents about Kentucky's new voluntary retail "Anti-Smurfing" campaign. The educational campaign is targeted at potential "smurfers," or people who purchase pseudoephedrine products for meth cooks, to inform them about the severity of their crimes.

Among those scheduled to speak at the event are State Senators Whitney Westerfield and Jerry Rhoads, State Representatives John Tilley and Brent Yonts, and Lori Blakely with the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force. The event is slated to get underway at 2:30pm Tuesday, at Cayce's Eagle Way Pharmacy, on Burley Avenue.
