Four students from Christian County Public Schools are headed to Lexington to compete in the state-wide 4-H competition on July 13 after advancing from the regional competetion. Alyssa Bruno will compete in the 9 year old division; Brennan Metz Spears will compete in the 10 year old division; Lucy Keller will compete in the 13 Year old division; and Lea Moore will compete in the 14 year old division. The students participated and placed in the area-wide 4-H public speaking contest in Caldwell County. Participants competed against youth from seven counties in the Pennyrile Region.
The contest teaches youth parts of a good speech and/or demonstration, how to write text, effective delivery techniques when communicating and gives lots of opportunities to practice in front of an audience. 4-H competitions are strenuous and youth are expected to treat all speeches and demonstrations as professional opportunities that may be presented to them in their lives, current or future.
