Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield of Hopkinsville will seek a third term in the Kentucky Senate.
Westerfield, who made the announcement Saturday night, said he plans to file for office Tuesday, January 7, when he returns to Frankfort for the 2020 Kentucky General Assembly session.
Westerfield says his campaign will focus on continuing to achieve real results for the district and upholding conservative values.
Westerfield, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, serves Christian, Todd and Logan Counties in the state Senate. He is a lifelong resident of Christian County.
Westerfield began serving as Judiciary Committee Chairman soon after he took office in 2012. In 2014 he sponsored Senate Bill 200, which led to the largest reform in Kentucky’s juvenile justice system in 30 years.
