Trigg County Eighth Grader To Participate In NJHFR Competition

Another Trigg County Middle School student recently qualified to compete at the world’s largest junior high rodeo.

According to the National Junior High Finals Rodeo, eighth-grader Bailey Shaughnessy earned a position on the Kentucky team and will be traveling with teammates to Huron, South Dakota to compete during the 15th annual rodeo. Shaughnessy will compete in the barrel racing and pole bending competitions.

The rodeo takes place June 23 through the 29th and can be seen daily by clicking here. The competition features roughly 1,000 contestants from forty-four states, five Canadian provinces, Australia, and Mexico. Participants compete for more than $80,000 in prizes and over $200,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named the National Junior High Finals Rodeo Champion.
