Trigg Senior Center Receives New Flag During Flag Day Ceremony

Around a dozen people gathered at the Trigg County Senior Citizens Center Friday evening for the annual Flag Day Ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by the WoodMen Life Chapter 20, with the James Thomas Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution and the Stephen Trigg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution assisting.

Chapter representative Steve Darnall says Flag Day has been celebrated annually on June 14 since 1950.

Daughters of the American Revolution member Brenda Southwick presented the reading of “I Am the American Flag”.

Koren War Veteran Willie Wilson provided comments for the ceremony and says the flag means so much.

During the service, Sons of the American Revolution members demonstrated the proper way to fold the American Flag, with both chapters helping to properly retire a worn and tattered flag at the seniors center.
