Turf Floor Covering For Multi-Purpose Trigg Facility Approved

Trigg County Fiscal Court magistrates approved a bid for turf floor covering for the multi-purpose facility and heard more comments from the public about the recently passed hospital tax.

Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander informed magistrates Windows, Doors, and Floors submitted the only bid for the turf.

Kurt Vezner and John Morgan were on the agenda to address Fiscal Court. Yezner told the court he would really like to see some documents so he could see for himself what is really going on at the hospital.

He also had several other questions. Judge Alexander told Vezner some of his questions could be answered at the hospital board meeting, and some could be answered by him if Vezner would come to his office.

John Morgan

Morgan said he has a problem with the hospital taxes and the effect it will have on senior citizens who are on a fixed income.

Magistrate Mike Wright

Magistrate Mike Wright said the hospital tax vote was the hardest situation he has faced since he buried his father. He added he spent countless sleepless nights and many hours learning about the situation and thinking about what was best for the community. Wright also noted many senior citizens have voiced to magistrates their support for the hospital. And he explained to Morgan the hospital tax of 10 cents is the maximum it can be raised.

Wright said they could have created a hospital taxing district and it could have been raised every year, similarly to the way the school board does each year, but this way it’s set one time at the maximum allowed by law.

The next fiscal court meeting will be Monday evening, November 5, at 6:00.
