A Princeton man has been sentenced in the murder of another Princeton man last year.

Joseph “Joey” Anderson was sentenced to 15 years in prison by 56th Judicial Circuit Judge C.E. “Woody” Woodall Tuesday afternoon in Caldwell County Circuit Court. Judge Woodall agreed with the original sentence proposed by the jury stating that there wasn’t much of a decision he could make under the law.

Anderson will be eligible for parole after 85 percent of his time has been served but is not eligible for probation.

In August, a jury in Livingston County found Anderson guilty of one count of manslaughter in the stabbing death of Grant Beckner on April 15, 2017. The fatal stabbing happened outside in the parking lot after Anderson and Beckner had started arguing inside the Princeton Elks Club.
