Microburst Confirmed From Tuesday Night’s Storms

Two lines of strong to severe thunderstorms tracked across western Kentucky Tuesday evening, and the National Weather Service in Paducah has confirmed that a microburst occurred in Muhlenberg County around 7:20 pm. 

The microburst had a maximum wind gust of 85 mph, and lasted approximately 4 miles. It began 3.75 miles southwest of Bremen, and stopped about 4 miles southeast of Bremen. 

NWS officials say that at least seven homes sustained minor damage, including loss of shingles and/or siding, facia, or gutters. At least seven barns/sheds had loss of metal panels from roofing or loss of siding. At least dozens of trees were uprooted or lost limbs. Several power lines and poles were downed. The damage was mainly along and north of Highway 70. Other scattered wind damage occurred across Muhlenberg County including Central City and the Drakesboro area.
