The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person who was found Sunday evening on Deason Lane. Public Information Officer Captain Chris Miller identified the victim as 29-year old Desmond Lamar Leavell of Hopkinsville.

Miller says the autopsy that was conducted Monday confirmed Leavell’s identity. The autopsy also showed Leavell died of a gunshot wound.

Leavell was reported missing by family members last Friday. His body was found by a passerby in a wood line along Deason Lane about 1/4 mile from the Antioch Road intersection.

Leavell was among those involved in the 2012 shooting at the Mapco in Oak Grove. Leavell was wounded in the shooting, which also claimed the life of Shannon Fairley. Heresy Mitchell pled guilty to the shooting of Fairley, while Louis Spencer pled guilty in connection to the shooting of Leavell.
