Christian County Board Of Health Approves $4.2 Million Budget

The Christian County Board of Health approved the expense and revenue budget of $4.2 million for Fiscal Year 2019 during Monday night’s meeting. Director Kayla Bebout presented the budget, which shows a slight rate decrease in the state retirement for 2019 in an amount of $364.093, down from $385,801 in 2018. However, she explains to the News Edge they are concerned about the state retirement rate for Fiscal Year 2020.

Bebout also proposed to keep a portion of the 3.2% tax rate per $100 for local funds in 2019 instead of putting the surplus into the state account as in years past.

She notes the unrestricted savings on the balance sheet and capital would make up the difference in their taxes and would leave the health department in the positive for Fiscal Year 2019.

In other business, Quality Improvement Coordinator Devin Brumfield gave a Community Development Block Grant Renovation Report that included two funding opportunities to help with their upcoming renovation project.

As we reported last week, the resolution was passed by Christian County Fiscal Court last Tuesday. He says they are looking at construction to begin later this year.

In other action, board members approved an increase in the environmental on-site fees effective July 1. The site evaluation fee was increased to $150 and permit fees were increased by $75 each. Board members also approved a late fee of $35, which will be assessed to those that do not pay their renewal fees by the required deadline.

The next Christian County Health Board meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., September 24.
