A Clarksville man was killed in a Sunday morning traffic crash on Oak Street, with a female passenger flown to a Nashville hospital. According to Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll, the driver was identified as 37 year-old Craig Bobby Knight of Clarksville.

Knoll reports the crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. when Knight was driving north at a high rate of speed. He says Knight lost traction in the 400 block, swerved, and then lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, crashing into a utility pole. The impact snapped the utility pole in three places and knocked down lines.
According to Knoll, Knight died at the scene of the collision and his 31-year old female passenger was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in serious condition; however, she was upgraded to stable later in the day.
Clarksville Police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
