More than 600 individuals attended the annual Jeffers Bend Take Kids Fishing Day event Saturday. Kids accompanied by adults lined the banks of the North Fork Little River for a morning of fishing, fun, and a little competition for prizes. The competition was broken down into age divisions and included the categories of Longest Cast, Reel Time, Longest Fish, Most Fish, and the Smallest Fish.
There were also some young men on hand that participated in the event in past years that returned to help, show their suppot, and share their love of fishing with the kids.
Ty Blanton, a member of the Christian County Fishing Team, was at the event to share his enjoyment of fishing as well as lend a helping hand by taking fish off of hooks for the kids. Blanton tells the News Edge he plans to pursue fishing in college and possibly professionally.
