Trigg County School board members approved the $25.4 million tentative budget, along with the salary schedules for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 during Thursday night’s regular meeting.

District Finance Officer Holly Greene presented the tentative budget to board members, which includes $122,000 less in SEEK Funding mainly due to a decrease in enrollment.

Greene said a significant expense in the general fund is the retirement contribution.

She noted the step in rank salaries will be around $116,000 more in expense.

In other action, the salaries schedule for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 was unanimously approved. Greene stated they are not recommending a raise this year due to the budget and the district’s carry forward that will be the same as last year.

After having recruiting and retention issues, Greene said they are adjusting the beginning pay of bus drivers in order to be more competitive with other districts.

A Salary Survey shows the district ranks 33rd in the state based on teacher’s salaries, which Greene added is significantly above the median.

Superintendent Travis Hamby said the district’s salary schedule remains relatively competitive.

The salary scheduled was approved unanimously.
