Sinking Fork Elementary School welcomed its new principal Wednesday. The school’s Site Based Decision Making Council selected Leslie Lancaster as principal of the elementary school located on Princeton Road in Christian County.

A release says Lancaster was a former teacher at North Drive Middle School, Pembroke and Millbrooke Elementary Schools, as well as spending the last three years as the assistant principal at Sinking Fork.

Lancaster completed her undergraduate work at Murray State University and holds a Master’s Degree from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She and her husband Jim, have two children at Christian County High School and a son at the University of Kentucky.

Lancaster is taking the place of Kathleen Carter who announced earlier this month she is retiring at the end of this school year. Carter has been the principal at Sinking Fork since 2006.
