Two Madsionville Men Charged With Trafficking Opiates

Two Madisonville men were arrested Wednesday night for trafficking drugs after police say they saw a drug transaction in the parking lot of a convenience store.

The Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reports detectives were trying to take a lunch break at the Ideal Market on East Center Street around 3:10pm when a suspicious vehicle parked next to them. The detectives say they then observed a hand to hand drug transaction in the parking lot between the two subjects, identified as 21-year old Dayshawn Jones and 25-year old Michael Meatris. The detectives apprehended the two men and seized suspected Oxycodone, marijuana, and a large amount of cash.

Jones and Meatris was booked into the Hopkins County Jail charged with 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Opiates). In addition, Jones was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Meatris was charged with Failure to Appear.

Police say they also charged Jawan Combs of Madisonville with Possession of Marijuana.

The Vice/Narcotics Unit was assisted by officers with the Madisonville Police Department.
