Salvation Army Hands Out Appreciation Awards

The Hopkinsville Salvation Army held their annual appreciation dinner Tuesday night at the Senior Citizens Center in Hopkinsville.

Several awards were presented to those who have served the Salvation Army. Captain Jose Marquez honored two members of the Advisory Board for their years of service.

Several bell ringer awards were presented. Every year there is a friendly competition between the Hopkinsville Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs to see who can raise the most money during the holiday bell ringing season. And again, the Kiwanis Club received the award. The Hillcrest Baptist Church along with Ebonite received bell ringing awards. The youth winner was the Salvation Army Corp Cadet Brigade.Community Partner award was presented to WKDZ/WHVO and Christian Radio WNKJ. Partner in ministry award went to Concord Baptist Church.

Several other churches and organizations were honored for their work in the soup kitchen.

Volunteer of the year was Michelle Stringer.

Guest speak was Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks who ended his remarks with high praise for the Salvation Army.
