Police Looking For Suspect In Attempted Child Abduction

Authorities say they are continuing to investigate and follow up on leads regarding an attempted child abduction that occurred this past weekend in Clarksville. Police spokesman Jim Knoll they have also conducted several interviews in the Clarksville and Adams area, as well as more in depth interviews with witnesses to see if they can gather additional information.

Police reported Saturday that shortly after noon that day a seven-year old girl and nine-year old girl stated the suspect, described as a tanned white male driving a light brown truck and armed with a black handgun, stopped beside them on Wakefield Drive and asked them personal questions. He then reportedly tried to grab one of the girls, but released the child when she began screaming for help. The suspect sped away, and turned onto West Mor Drive. Police said neither child was injured in the attempted child abduction.

Knoll indicates they are contining to look for the vheicle, even though officers have checked out some vehicles which were either called in as tips or people saw on the roads. He say they are also checking businesses near the attempted abduction for the possibility of surveillance video.

The vehicle was described as a light brown pickup truck with a matching shell camper that is the same height as the cab with a Titans football emblem on the back window of the camper, along with some sort of eagle emblem or sticker.
