A man was flown to a Nashville hospital after he was shot in the leg while walking on Ford Street, about two blocks from the Austin Peay State University campus.

Based on witness accounts, Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll says the man in his late 20s was walking on Ford Street shortly before 12:30 Wednesday and heading toward College Street when an unidentified male shot several rounds from a vehicle in the man’s direction. The vehicle then turned on Shearor Street and fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

The suspect is described as a tall, thin male with a short afro. The vehicle is described as an older model faded Ford, possibly a Taurus.

The male victim was flown to a Nashville hospital where Knoll says he is listed in stable condition.
