A plant manager has been named for the recently announced $300 million automotive aluminum sheet manufacturing facility in Guthrie.

According to the Todd County Standard, Novelis Inc. named Paul Banks as the new manager. Banks assumes the role after previously serving as Unit Manager at Logan Aluminum, a Novelis joint venture in nearby Russellville. With more than 25 years of experience in the aluminum rolling industry, Banks will oversee the construction and development of the facility as the company prepares the site to safely ramp up production for automotive customers.

As Plant Manager, Banks will be responsible for building a team of approximately 125 employees to operate the facility and establish important partnerships for Novelis with local business, government and community leaders.

Novelis Vice President of Operations, Tom Boney, said Bank’s extensive knowledge of their aluminum manufacturing process, built through his experience at their Berea, Kentucky facility and Logan Aluminum, will ensure the Guthrie plant successfully supports thier customers’ needs from day one.

Slated to break ground in May and open in 2020, Novelis’ Guthrie facility will include heat treatment and pre-treatment lines, which prepare aluminum for use in vehicle parts such as body-in-white, hoods, doors, lift gates and fenders.
Novelis Inc. is the global leader in aluminum rolled products and the world’s largest recycler of aluminum. The company operates in 10 countries, has approximately 11,000 employees.
