A mistrial was declared in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday in the manslaughter case against a Hopkinsville woman accused of causing the death of her infant son in October 2016. Desiree Catlett is charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter and her trial began Monday in Christian Circuit Court. Jurors began deliberations in the case shortly before noon Tuesday.

After about two hours in deliberations, the jury returned and informed Circuit Judge John Atkins they could not reach an unanimous decision. Circuit Judge John Atkins then sent them back in to deliberate for about 15 minutes to see if they could reach an unanimous decision. However, jurors returned to the courtroom with the same outcome.

Judge Atkins set a pretrial conference for next month.

Hopkinsville Police reported they responded to a home in Evergreen Park regarding a call of a 10-month old child not breathing in October 2016. Catlett was indicted by a grand jury and arrested on a Christian Circuit Court Warrant in April 2017 on a charge of 2nd Degree Manslaughter.
