Strong to severe thunderstorms swept across western Kentucky overnight prompting the National Weather Service in Paducah to issue severe thunderstorm warnings in some counties west of Land Between the Lakes. The storms moved through the region after midnight with severe thunderstorm warnings issued until 1:15 Saturday morning for Calloway and Marshall counties.
Trained weather spotters reported golf ball sized hail mixed in with mostly nickel to quarter sized hail in Graves and Marshall counties. No damages have been reported.
There is a chance of severe thunderstorms Monday as another storm system is forecast to sweep across western Kentucky. Meteorologists indicate the severe storms could produce damaging winds and tornadoes.
