Two Dead With 18 Injured In Marshall County Shooting

Governor Matt Bevin is asking for respect in the wake of shooting at Marshall County High School that claimed the lives of two students Tuesday morning. During a news conference at the Marshall County Board of Education, Governor Bevin confirmed that a 15-year old female student died from a gunshot wound at the school, with a 15-year old male student passing away after being taken to a hospital.

Bevin said 19 students were injured, with 14 shot and five receiving other injuries during the incident. Bevin also confirmed that a 15-year old male student is in custody and will be charged with Murder and Attempted Murder.

Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rick Sanders said the shooting began shortly before 8:00 in the commons area.



Bevin made a plea for respect for the families and the community.



He says Kentucky needs to come together to support the community and the families.



Bevin also thanked first responders for their efforts after the shooting occurred.



Sanders noted the students and faculty responded to the best of their ability.



He adds Kentucky State Police and the FBI are continuing to investigate shooting.



Sanders noted the student’s home will be searched. He says additional details will be released when they are available. The names of the students have involved have not been released by officials.
