Authorities say an anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Logan County man wanted in connection to an armed robbery Thursday at the Lewisburg Bank in Adairville. Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker says they received the tip Saturday morning around 8:00 that 43-year old Eric Knuckles was in a motel room at the Deerfield Inn in Portland, Tennessee. After an investigation, Sheriff Whittaker and deputies, along with Portland Police Officers, found Knuckles inside the room and he was taken into custody without incident.
According to Sheriff Whittaker, they recovered numerous items of evidence used in the bank robbery, including the clothing he was wearing, the stolen white Jeep Compass, and the weapon, as well as a majority of the money taken during the robbery.
The report says Knuckles waived his rights of extradition and was transported back to the Logan County Jail.
The armed robbery occurred around 9:00 Thursday morning at the Lewisburg Bank Branch in Adairville, located at 109 Park Avenue. Sheriff Whittaker reported that employees had stated a white male came into the bank and demanded cash while holding employees at gunpoint. He then allegedly tied up employees and took an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as an employee’s vehicle and fled the scene.
Sheriff Whittaker says the investigation is ongoing. He indicates Knuckles is facing numerous charges, which area pending at this time.
