One Injured When Two Semis Crash In Hopkins County

One person was injured when two semi tractor trailers collided on Interstate 69 in Hopkins County early Saturday morning. The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the wreck around 3:30am at the 103 mile marker. Deputies say a semi driven by 45-year old Walter Sharp of Flowery Branch, Georgia was making a U-turn in the median and became stuck in the snow and failed to use any markers or flashing lights to indicate his trailer was blocking the southbound lanes. Deputies say 68-year old James Light of Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania was traveling southbound and failed to see Sharp's truck and crashed into the driver's side of his trailer. The impact scattered debris from both trucks throughout the northbound and southbound lanes.

Light was transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Baptist Health Madisonville.
