Police say a non-injury wreck at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Skyline Drive landed a Hopkinsville man behind bars charged with his second DUI and drug offenses. Hopkinsville Police say 69-year old Samuel Banger crashed into the rear of another vehicle around 8:20 Friday night. Officers report Banger smelled of alcoholic beverages and admitted to drinking a pint while driving from Illinois. Police reportedly found an empty bottle of whiskey under the driver's seat. Banger also allegedly admitted to smoking pot after police found a metal pipe containing marijuana in the center console.
After police say Banger failed field sobriety tests, he was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 2nd Offense, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a couple of insurance-related offenses. Banger was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
