Wiltjer To Look At Transfer Options.

It appears like there may be one more departure from the UK basketball team. In a letter posted online Monday, UK junior Kyle Wiltjer stated he was going to look at options for a possible transfer for his final two seasons of eligibility. In the letter, Wiltjer expressed his desire to be able to play at a school where he could be featured in a more prominent role. With the nation’s top ranked recruiting class coming in, Wiltjer is projected to have more of a backup role with the 2013-2014 Wildcats. Among the schools believed to be at the top of the list for Wiltjer is Gonzaga.

Wiltjer said he had a “dream was to win a national championship and compete with and play against the best players in the country”, and “without a doubt, I accomplished both of these goals in my two years at Kentucky. Now as I head into my junior year, I recognize that my new and adjusted goals require me to make some very difficult upcoming decisions." In an online response Monday, Coach John Calipari said he would not oppose Wiltjer transferring, but would leave the door open for his return.
