Trigg Takes Second at First Region Bass Fishing Tournament

Trigg County finished in second place at the first-ever Region I Kentucky Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Barkley and will send six anglers to the state meet in two weeks.

The duo of Mason Shelton and Austin Greene caught four fish totaling 12 pounds, 9 ounces.  That was second only to Calloway County’s Trevor Salyers and Cody Jackson who caught five fish totaling 15 pounds, 10 ounces.  Those two totals not only took 1-2 in the region but were also the top two totals in the state at the region level.

Trigg’s duo of Adam Fitch and Hunter Allen took eighth place with two bass weighing nine pounds and an ounce.  Shelby Johnson and Nick Summers finished 11th with three bass weighing seven pounds, seven ounces.

Trigg County’s first bass fishing team is coached by Scott Schrock and James Shelton.

Lyon County had two teams finish in the top six.  Tyler Martin and Hannah Johnson finished in fourth place, and Cole Strack and Dalton Nelson were sixth.

The top 14 pairs in the region now advance to the first-ever Kentucky Bass Fishing State Tournament April 26 and 27 on Kentucky Lake.
