Trigg County Turns to Familiar Face to Lead Girls' Hoops

Trigg County has turned to a familiar face to lead their girls' basketball program.  Mike Wright was introduced as the new head coach Tuesday afternoon at the school.

Wright coached the Lady Wildcats from 1985-92, posting a record of 88-99 and winning the district title in 1990.

In two different stints as boys' head coach at TCHS, Wright's teams were 221-219 and won four district titles as well as the 1997 region title.

He becomes the third head coach of the Lady Wildcats in as many seasons, replacing Russell Malone who stepped down after  7-17 record in his lone season as head coach.

Several of Wright's former Lady Wildcat players, some of whom have daughters on the current roster, were among those who packed the conference room to see Wright introduced.

In addition to meeting with the current players, Wright hopes to have a day camp for girls basketball players soon.
