Scott Brown handles most of the sports duties for Ham Broadcasting. In addition to providing daily sports news on this blog, he broadcasts high school football, basketball and baseball games on WKDZ and WHVO. He also hosts the Saturday Morning Sports Report on WKDZ - one of the few local sports programs in the area. His local sports has been the most read in Trigg County for several years.

Trigg Arrowcats Bring Home National Archery Title

Trigg County High School has won the National Archery in Schools Championship for the second straight year, while two other Trigg teams finished second.  

Trigg County High scored 3,453 points -- which was 13 more than Henderson County -- to claim the national title and better 155 other schools.

Jake McNab shot a 295 to finish eighth out of over 1,600 archers.  Kayla Bingham shot a 291 to place 15th overall. Shaye Patterson shot a 289 to finish 28th, while Kaila Cunningham was 32nd with a 288.

Both Trigg County Middle and Trigg Intermediate claimed second place finishes by narrow margins. Trigg Middle scored 3,348 points to place second behind Lamar (TX) Middle School.

Meanwhile, Trigg County eighth grader Clay Stevens is a national champion after shooting a 295 out of 300 to better over 1,800 other middle school males.

Eighth grader Lora Lee Heady shot a 291 to take fourth place among middle school females. Kailyn Smith was 15th among middle school females with a score of 285.

The Intermediate School's score of 3,267 was 33 points behind Woodlawn (GA) Elementary School.

Wyatt Wagoner shot a 283 to take 16th in the male division.

Trigg County will now take several archers to the World Competition at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis June 28-30.
