Trigg County beat Crittenden County 10-4 Thursday to claim the Fifth District Baseball Title.
After winning one district title from 1979-2006, Trigg has now won three titles in the past seven years.
Crittenden County scored all four of their runs in the first inning to grab a 4-2 lead. Freshman pitcher Tyler Estes settled down after some first inning wildness, striking out three and allowing just three hits over five innings. David Wease pitched the final two innings for the Wildcats.
Brandon Wilson had three hits for the Wildcats, while Ben Wigand had two hits, and Tyler Allen had two hits and three RBIs.
The final margin could have been worse as the Wildcats banged out 11 hits and were issued 12 walks by the Rockets. They also left 14 runners on base.
Trigg County (24-11) now moves into next week's region tournament at Madisonville as a district champion. They will draw either Union County (13-21), Madisonville (15-20), or Hopkinsville (15-16). The district champions are Henderson County (26-8), Caldwell County (21-8), and Christian County (24-14).
Trigg County players named to the All-District Team were Trace Kuberski, Nick Allen, Ben Wigand, Corbin Estes, and David Wease.
