Hoppers Win Third Straight, Move Into First Place Tie

The Hoptown Hoppers won their season-high third straight game and moved into a first place tie in the Ohio Valley League standings with a 3-1 win over Marion.

Former Christian County Colonel Cole Isom allowed just one run over seven innings, striking out six and allowing five hits.

The Hoppers' streak of 18 shutout innings ended early as Marion pushed across a run in the first inning. Mason Colquitt answered with an RBI double in the home half of the first to tie the game at 1-1.

Seth Larue's two-run double in the sixth proved to be the game-winner as the Hoppers banged out nine hits in the game.  Colquitt and Mitch Huckabay each had two hits.

The Hoppers' win, coupled with Madisonville's 12-0 loss to Fulton County, moved Hoptown into a first place tie with the Pirates and Dubois County.

Fulton's Isaac Behme turned in the pitching perfomance of the season, retiring 25 straight Madisonville batters. He settled for a four-hit complete game shutout.

In the other OVL game, Dubois County edged Owensboro 9-8 in 12 innings.

First place is on the line tonight as the Hoppers travel to Madisonville to play the Pirates.  Elsewhere, Dubois County hosts Fulton and Owensboro travels to Marion.
