Scott Brown handles most of the sports duties for Ham Broadcasting. In addition to providing daily sports news on this blog, he broadcasts high school football, basketball and baseball games on WKDZ and WHVO. He also hosts the Saturday Morning Sports Report on WKDZ - one of the few local sports programs in the area. Hoppers Get First Win; Hageman to Pitch Tonight

The Hopkinsville Hoppers picked up their first win of the season, beating Fulton 5-2 Wednesday night.

Riley Sanderson held the Railroaders to just one hit over eight innings and struck out seven in getting the win.

Third baseman Brandon Brogetto had two hits and three RBIs for the Hoppers, while leftfielder John Beary had two hits and scored twice.

The Hoppers return home tonight to face first place Dubois County tonight at Hopkinsville's Tiger Stadium.  Former Hoptown Tiger Justin Hageman announced on his Facebook page that he has joined the Hoppers and is expected to pitch tonight.

Dubois County improved to 4-0 by hammering winless Marion 15-4.

The wild game of the night was in Madisonville where Owensboro jumped out to an 8-0 lead, only to see the Pirates tie the game and then score eight times in the eighth inning to win 17-9. 

Former Hopkinsville Tiger Jarrod Perry had two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates, who remain unbeaten at 3-0.

Tonight, the Pirates travel to Marion, while Owensboro hosts Fulton.
