Scott Brown handles most of the sports duties for Ham Broadcasting. In addition to providing daily sports news on this blog, he broadcasts high school football, basketball and baseball games on WKDZ and WHVO. He also hosts the Saturday Morning Sports Report on WKDZ - one of the few local sports programs in the area. Heritage Christian Academy Wins Tourney; Full Schedule of Games Today

Heritage Christian Academy rolled through the field and won the Volleyjam Tournament in Smyrna, Tennessee over the weekend.

HCA defeated Watertown (25-9, 25-13), Middle Tennessee Christian (25-12, 25-13), and Goodlettsville Christian (25-8, 25-18) in pool play.

The Lady Warriors beat Middle Tennessee Christian (25-10, 15-11) in the semifinals and beat Watertown 25-20, 25-19, and 25-20 to win the title.

Grace Waldron had 16 aces and 14 kills for HCA, while Victoria Jent had 20 aces and 12 kills.

HCA is now 5-0 and will host North Hardin Tuesday.

Meanwhile, KHSAA schools begin their 2013 volleyball season today. 

  • University Heights (19-14) opens their fourth season of volleyball today at Crittenden County (6-17).  UHA swept the season series last year.

  • Fort Campbell (5-14) entertains Madisonville (13-23). The Lady Maroons took two from Fort Campbell last year.

  • Hopkinsville (17-16) opens at home with Muhlenberg County (13-14).  Muhlenberg took two of the three matches last year with all three going the full three games.

  • Todd County Central (1-22) visits Webster County. The teams did not play last year. 

Trigg County opens their season Tuesday at University Heights.
