Scott Brown handles most of the sports duties for Ham Broadcasting. In addition to providing daily sports news on this blog, he broadcasts high school football, basketball and baseball games on WKDZ and WHVO. He also hosts the Saturday Morning Sports Report on WKDZ - one of the few local sports programs in the area. Hoppers Fall to Owensboro in Extra Innings

Christian McHatton singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to send Owensboro to a 4-3 win over Hopkinsville in Ohio Valley League play Saturday night. Hopkinsville tied the game with two runs in the top of the ninth on a walk, three consecutive hit batters, and a groundout.

Owensboro outhit the Hoppers 8-4 and took advantage of four Hopper errors in the contest. Stewart Rich pitched into the seventh inning, allowing just one earned run while striking out eight. Trevor Blocker suffered the loss.

In other OVL action, Marion scored nine runs on just five hits to beat Fulton 9-3, and Dubois County moved to a game and a half lead over Madisonville with a 4-1 win over the Pirates.  Owensboro (3-3) is two games back, and Hopkinsville (2-3) is 2.5 games back.

The Hoppers return home tonight for a 7:05 contest with Owensboro.  Athlon Sports will be giving out college football preview magazines to the first 200 people entering the park. Bring a non-perishable food item to the Hopkinsville Faith Lutheran Church's food pantry and get in for $2.
