'Bull Durham'-Style Rainout Cancels Tonight's Hoppers Game

In the movie Bull Durham, Kevin Costner created a rainout by turning on the sprinklers at the minor league park where they were supposed to have a game the next day.

Although no one is sure of the whereabouts of Crash Davis, the Hoptown Hoppers were the victim of the same type of shenanigans last night which has forced the cancellation of tonight's Hoppers' game with Owensboro.

Hoppers' General Manager Finney Noffsinger said assistant coach Walt Bedsole and the grounds crew arrived at Tiger Stadium this morning to find that someone had put the water hoses on the field and turned them on.  Because of the standing water and mud on the field at midday, Noffsinger said the decision to postpone the game was made. A make-up date will be announced later.

The Hoppers are scheduled to host Marion Friday night.
