Preliminary Cause Of Death Released For Union Judge Executive

The Union County coroner has released the preliminary cause of death for Union County Judge Executive Jody Jenkins. Coroner Stephen Shouse told WEHT-TV the official cause of death cannot be deteremined until toxicolocy results are returned from the medical examiner's office, which could take up to a month. However, he said a preliminary autopsy determined Jenkins' cause of death was due to an enlarged heart and significant blocking of coronary vessels.

Reports indicate Jenkins was found dead Sunday morning at a rental property in Morganfield.

Jenkins was indicted in September 2017 for allegedly using his official position to get kick-backs from purchasing stolen equipment and then covering his alleged actions by directing false invoices to be submitted.

Jenkins had entered not guilty pleas on all charges and was scheduled to stand trial May 21st.
